boogied to the beach.

This beautiful, WARM weather sure does make me wish that we were back at the beach!

Almost two weeks ago we boogied down to Carillon for a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. The entire weekend could not have been more perfect, really.

We arrived into town Thursday, late afternoon. We decided to drive straight into Seaside to do some shopping and let Brooks roam free after being strapped in his car seat for four hours straight (he was an angel baby the entire drive down). Unfortunately for his little legs, the green was blocked off due to the planting of a gillion palm trees, but we switched it up and let him run around in the sand for a bit.

After our fun afternoon in town, we headed down 30A for an early dinner at the Red Bar. MMM MMM good.

The next morning the boys let me sleep in while they slipped away for a father/son date at Thomas Donuts.

You can imagine how happy Mama was when she came down the stairs and was greeted by her boys and a dozen delicious donuts!

Before Brooks' morning nap we decided to go feed the fish and look at the boats in the bay. I think that B enjoyed feeding the bread to himself rather than the fish.

We decided to let Brooks' morning naps drag out a bit so he would be able hang for a while on the beach or at the pool in the afternoons. Therefore, when he woke up around lunch time (!) we would feed him, lather up, load up, and spend the next three hours soaking up the sun and throwing sand...

While Brooks had a blast on the beach every day, he especially loved the pool. When it was time to head home for his tubby and afternoon nap he would have a come-apart and try running back to the ledge. I adore that little water baby.

On Friday night we went to the Back Porch at Pier Park for dinner and on Saturday night we went to George's. We celebrated my birthday Saturday night with not one, but TWO desserts. Bread pudding and chocolate goo, say hello to my big belly.  Watching the beautiful sunset with my boys in Alys Beach wasn't so bad either...

Here are some pictures of our trip as told by my big camera:

John and I honestly feel so blessed to be able to take four days to unwind and stay at a little piece of heaven every year. We look forward to this trip for months and now that we have a baby (almost two!) in tow, it makes the trip so much sweeter. It's a time to slow down, smell the roses palm trees and salt air, and cherish every waking minute together as a family. Each year is so fun and memorable and this year was no exception.
