memorial day weekend.

The weather channel predicted rain, rain, and more rain over Memorial Day weekend so we were thinking that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the lake much during our visit to Nannie and Pop Pop's. Rain? What rain?! We had a little shower here and there, but for the most part spent most of our days fishing off of the dock, swimming in the lake, riding on the boat, and splashing in the pool.

The kids had the most fun with their cousins and I enjoyed a little break from the daily grind. It's always so nice spending time with my parents, brother (although, he prefers to spend most of his time inside on the couch), and sister-in-law.

On Monday, we went to visit Gram before we headed out of town. Her assisted living hosted a Memorial Day cookout so we joined her for a delicious lunch and some sweet, quality time. It's hard to believe she will be 98 in August! I just love her so much and our time with her, always, is just never enough.

We cannot wait to go back for a week in July!

school's out for summer.

Today was bittersweet as another school year came to an end. Both Brooks and Ann Bennett were blessed by four amazing teachers who now hold a place in our hearts. I am eternally grateful for the love and wisdom that they poured into them this year. I teared up as we said our goodbyes to Caroline and Alison. For the past two years they have been a part of our lives and we will surely miss seeing their smiling faces. And, of course, April and Stacey were so wonderful to Brooks (and me) that we requested Ann Bennett get them for 4K. Fingers crossed!

Here are some comparisons from the first day of school to the last. Oh my, how they've grown! My mama heart can't take it!

4K and Kindergarten (gasp) here they come!
