It doesn't get much cuter.

chunk of love.

Ann Bennett had her one year well check-up on August 18th. We are praising God for a healthy (you go, Annie), baby girl. Our chunk of love is measuring 23 pounds, 12 ounces (92nd percentile) and is 31 3/4 inches tall (>99th percentile). Her noggin circumference is 46.1 centimeters (80th percentile).

She had to get the Prevnar, MMR, and Varicella vaccines. Dr. McAfee warned us that she could have a reaction, but I wasn't too worried since she did fine with them in the past. Boy, was I wrong. Baby girl ran a high fever for a solid week. She was not feeling good at all. She was feeling puny, fussy, and achy for an entire week.  On top of that, she developed a mild rash on her torso. Immunizations are no joke!

Thankfully, she started feeling better when we got home from the beach and was back to her normal self a few days later. I'm praying the next round won't affect her as much, poor baby. We will be back at 15 months for her next check-up!

My boy and his Bad Boy.

Will you just look at that smile?!

last-minute.

Last Thursday, John's parents offered to take Brooks and his cousin William to the beach for the weekend. On Friday, we last-minute decided to join them for a quick, much needed getaway.

Sissy had a bad reaction to her 12 month vaccinations, so she was feverish, rashed, and fussy the entire weekend. Brooks, on the other hand, had the time of his life. He absolutely adores his cousin, Shug, Pops, and the beach, so little buddy was living his dream.

John and I were able to have some quiet time on the secluded beach (yay for back-to-school) and some one-on-one time with our nephew while our babies napped.

It was a laid-back, short, but sweet trip and we cannot wait to go back in four weeks with the entire Bryant/Moore clan! YAY!

sticky sweet.

On Sunday, August 16th, we threw an ice cream social birthday bash for our sticky, sweet, and oh, so fun one year old. Our precious friends made Annie B feel so very loved and celebrated. I couldn't have asked for a better day (minus the pop-up rain shower(s) that forced 40 or so people inside our tiny house…such is life).

Once again, my talented friend, Katie Beth, designed her adorable invitations. My friend Margot's lovely mom sewed her sweet dress and topped it off with a hand-stitched ice cream cone to match the one on the invitation. We had sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and a coloring station for the kiddies. And, of course, ice cream. Lot's of ice cream.

Happy First Birthday, Ann Bennett! You are every bit of wonderful. We love you, baby girl!
