Month one with Campbell was a bit of a blur. I didn't document much the first few weeks quite like I did with Brooks and Ann Bennett. I'll be honest, I was busy trying to keep all three alive and well, while running on fumes. I forgot how tiring it was getting up every couple of hours at night. It's a good thing Camp is so darn cute. And thank you, Jesus, for the newborn high that keeps me going.
Campbell is the sweetest baby, hardly ever making a peep, except for when he is hungry, which was often the first week. Lucky for him (and me), I recognized the hunger cues and was familiar with my milk production, or lack thereof, and started topping him off with a bottle of pumped breastmilk after each nursing session. He went from nursing every hour, to every few hours, which resulted in a happier baby and a happier mama.
Camp doesn't sleep in his bassinet for naps. He is usually being held or is asleep in the car seat or Rock 'n Play. Therefore, he doesn't get much interactive "awake" time. We can maybe get 10-15 minutes out of him in the knee hold until he dozes off again.
He loves to be perched up on your shoulder, chest-to-chest, just like his sister. He has a little curl on the crown of his head, a baby mohawk if you will. His nicknames are "Bug" and "Campbell Bambell" or just plain "Bambell."
He lost his umbilical cord within the first few days at home.
During his first month, he celebrated Father's Day, traveled to Nanie and Pop Pop's house, met his GiGi, Aunt Kay Kay, Uncle Jeff, and his cousins. He also went on his first boat ride.
He gave me his first intentional smile on July 12th. He is the smiliest baby. He also grew out of his newborn diapers and can wear some 0-3 month outfits. At his 3 week well check-up on July 6th, he weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces (76th percentile) and was 22 inches (89th percentile). His head circumference was 38 centimeters (87th percentile).
Camp is growing and changing so much, so fast. I will try to do my best at recording his firsts and milestones from here on out, but for now, snuggling him and breathing in every ounce of him is number one on my to-do list.
