memorial day.

Memorial Day was surely memorable this year. We had not seen my parents since Easter, so we were all eager for some time with Nanie and Pop Pop! So much so, we spent an entire week at the lake.

I loaded up the kiddos on Tuesday morning an we made the 3 1/2 hour trek to Greensboro. When we got there we skipped naps and went straight to the Lake Club pool. For the next six days, if we weren't at the swimming pool, we were at the beach digging in the sand and throwing rocks.

We did a lot of coloring...

…and eating. The kids ate way too many sweets and treats, if you ask me. But, that's what grandparents are for, right?!

On Thursday morning, Nanie took us to Homegrown at Lickskillet Farm to pick blueberries. Brooks and Ann Bennett had a blast! They especially loved the piglets and goats.

Late Friday afternoon we went to a Summer Kick-Off party at The Landing. The kids had fun running and jumping around for an hour, topped off with tattoos.

But, the highlight of their night was Daddy's arrival, popsicles, and a long boat ride!

On Saturday morning, we took Brooks and Ann Bennett to the pond for some fishing tournament fun.

Brooks caught one, but I think playing with the "wormies" was more up his alley.

Saturday night, my parents had a wedding in Bulkhead to attend, so John and I took the babies to Silver Moon for dinner. It never disappoints!

On Sunday, the rest of my family joined us. Brooks and AB were in cousin heaven!

They only stayed for the day, so you can imagine the disappointment when we said our goodbyes. Ann Bennett was ready to climb in the car with them and drive away!

On Monday, we spent the entire day at the Lake Club pool…again. Now that Daddy was here, Brooks and AB had someone to take them down the slide (the water was freezing). I'm pretty sure Ann Bennett would have gone down by herself if we let her!

We all headed back on Tuesday. If I had given the kids the option, they would have stayed for another week! It's always hard saying goodbye, but we can't wait to go back this summer—and finally get to stay in Nanie and Pop Pop's NEW house! YAY! Thanks, Mom and Dad, for having us! XO.
