To say that Brooks had a rough start to school would be an understatement. For six days, there were many tears, the assistant principal would have to pry him off of me during drop-off, and he would spend most mornings with the therapy dogs. But, on day seven, he decided that he would be brave and from that day forward he now walks into school with his head held high.
Shades, the class mascot, took his very first flight home with a friend for the school year, and that friend was Brooks! In the words of Ms. Rienzi, "Our Outstanding Owl this week is Brooks. OO is awarded each week to a friend who stood out for leading, meeting a goal, trying something hard, showing a growth mindset- any and all hard work worth recognizing. Brooks was chosen because he set a goal at the beginning of the week, and he took special steps everyday to ensure he met that goal. His grit and growth mindset are SO worth celebrating. Way to go Brooks- we can't wait to celebrate you all week!"
To say that we are proud, is an understatement!
He got to keep Shades at home for the weekend and had document what they did together. They rope climbed, went for a Gator ride, drank smoothies and ate popsicles, and watched a movie together. He was excited to share their adventures with the class on Monday!
Keep shining your light, Brooks! You bring us so much joy!
