It didn't really hit me until I got out your numbers for our shoot, that you are now in the double digits—TEN months old today. You are nearing one and I'm not sure my mama heart can take it. The countdown is on!
Month ten was full of ups and downs. Let's start with the ups.
On March 15th, the day you turned nine months old, you officially started crawling. From here, you just took off. On the 27th you pulled to standing on your own and just a week later you started cruising. On that same day, April 4th, you stood on your own without holding onto anything! We were outside in the front yard visiting with neighbors, so they were able to witness it, too! You had quite the cheering squad. You did it again on the 8th, out back with Pops! This time, I was able to capture it with my camera. You aren't showing any signs of walking yet—let's keep it that way!
We went to the beach this month and you were your typical go-with-the-flow little self. We threw your schedule out the door and you didn't seem to mind one bit. You loved the beach. And by loved the beach, I mean you loved to eat the sand on the beach. The minute I would push your hand away from your mouth, you'd be shoving in another fistful with your other hand. It kept Mommy and Daddy on our toes and the onlookers laughing. But, as busy as you were, you still gave me a beach nap, and for that I am thankful!
You turned into a daddy's boy this month. You much prefer him over me. When he approaches, you start pumping your little legs with excitement and start fussing and reaching for him.
And speaking of Daddy, you took your first shower with him, Brooks, and Ann Bennett on the 25th. You love the bath, but think that the shower is just as much fun!
You celebrated your first Easter this month. We cannot wait until you are old enough to really grasp the meaning of this day. For now, you enjoyed tearing open your Easter baskets and playing with your new toys.
We dedicated you to the Lord on April 8th. Your Nannie and Pop Pop came into town for the special occasion and your Shug, Pops, Aunt Lea, Uncle Bradley and Moore cousins were also in attendance. It was the sweetest day. We hosted a lunch afterwards, that you enjoyed as much as everyone else. My precious, Camp. We pray that you will one day know and trust Jesus Christ as your Savior. In the meantime, we promise to lead and love by His example.
Now, on to the downs.
With your new mobility, you gain a new bump or bruise daily. There are times when the bang is so loud that we run over to you to observe the damage, but you don't make a peep. You are one tough cookie! Instead of crying, you immediately put your right hand to your right ear and get a confused look on your face. Every time. Without fail. It is the absolute cutest!
You started getting "stranger danger," this month and want to be in our arms at all times while in public. I really don't seem to mind!
You've had two bouts of sickness this month. You had a random fever that lasted five days, finally breaking with a rash all over your body. You were pretty puny. You were lethargic, sleeping ALL day. You refused your bottle. It was so hard to see you suffer through that virus!
And just two days ago I took you to the doctor because your eyes were red and full of yellow puss. You were diagnosed with an ear infection in your left ear and a double eye infection. To top it off, last night you woke up around 4:00 a.m. with a croup cough. Poor buddy, you just can't catch a break!
I want to end your ten month post on a high note. So, let's talk about your sweet and delicious open-mouthed kisses. You started giving them to me on queue and it is the best thing ever. But, really, you are the best thing ever, baby boy. We love you so much—even through those sleepless nights this month! You are simply adored!
