This year, lots of tricks and lots of treats were had Halloween night. Ann Bennett woke up on the wrong side of the crib from her afternoon nap, so to rid her of the screams and tears we gave her Twizzlers. Lots of Twizzlers.
That trick was on us.
Our little candy-eating stinker drove around with Daddy in the Bad Boy Buggy, while Mommy and Brooks walked ran from house to house. My sweet, shiny red fire truck approached each doorstep making siren noises and was sure to tell every one who dropped candy into his basket, "thank you."
It was a drizzly evening, but that didn't slow us down one bit. We must have hit up 18 houses before the big down pour. When we got home, we ate supper on the front porch and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters who were brave enough to withstand the rain. That may have been Brooks' favorite part of the night.
We ended up with lots of treats and sugar highs. There's nothing worse than a baby and a toddler jacked up on sugar. Actually, yes there is…a basket full of candy, staring at you, that you can't eat. Oh, the horror.
This time, the tricks on me.
Happy Halloween!
